National Association of Theatre Owners, Chief Financial Officer

A recognized leader in the nonprofit/association community, Lou DiGioia has spent the last 25 years in various leadership positions at national organizations. He currently serves as the Chief Financial Officer for the National Association of Theatre Owners (NATO). NATO is the largest exhibition trade organization in the world, representing over 35,000 movie screens in all 50 states, and additional cinemas in 101 countries worldwide. Prior to that role, he served as the Chief Operating Officer for the Colorectal Cancer Alliance – the largest colon cancer charity in the world. Before the Alliance, he served as Executive Director at two different educational nonprofits – the Distributive Education Clubs of America (DECA) and MATHCOUNTS. With over 200,000 members, DECA prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs for careers in marketing, finance, hospitality and management in high schools and colleges around the globe. DiGioia served for 11 years as the Executive Director of the MATHCOUNTS Foundation during a period of historic organizational growth and achievement. During his tenure, the number and diversity of middle school students engaged in the afterschool math was greatly increased through the creation of The National Math Club®, which builds student enthusiasm for math by providing schools with free resources to hold afterschool math clubs; and the Math Video Challenge®, an online competition that has teams create innovative teaching videos based on MATHCOUNTS problems.
DiGioia has served in numerous volunteer roles with the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) and is a member of the advisory group for the digitalNow conference. He earned the Certified Association Executive credential in 2008 and was inducted as an ASAE Fellow in 2019. DiGioia holds a BA from Georgetown University, an MBA from George Mason University, and a certificate in Performance Measurement of Nonprofit Organizations from Harvard Business School. He resides in Virginia with his wife, son and his chug (half-chihuahua, half-pug).
